ASKA Swimming

Swimming lessons tailored to the needs of the learner.

Please find below details of the various swimming lessons we currently offer

Beginner (Level 1) : This type of lesson is for pupils who are yet to achieve Stage 1 in the National Teaching Plan for Swimming. If your child has progressed from our previous stages of lessons then they may have already passed Stage 1 and can jump straight into a Stage 2 class. These lessons are 30 minutes in duration and the ratio can be either 1-to-1 or 2. If you would like a larger ratio then please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Beginner (Level 2) : Once your child is confident in the water with aids they will be promoted to our level 2 classes where the focus is unaided swimming working towards Stage 2 of the National Teaching Plan. The ratio should ideally be small, ie, 1-to-2 or 3, but could be set to your preferences.

Developer (Level 3) : Once swimming unaided your child will progress to one of our level 3 classes where they will begin to tidy up their strokes whilst building on their water skills in the pool. Pupils will be working towards Stage 3 of the National Teaching Plan for Swimming. The ratio should ideally be small, ie, 1-to-3 or 4.

Developer (Level 4) : Once pupils are showing a basic grasp of the strokes and are swimming them confidently they will progress on to one of our Level 4 classes where the finer points of the strokes will be taught, for instance, correct breathing styles. The ratio will be ideally 1-to-4 or 5, which will bring in peer pressure to help encourage the pupils to improve their technique. The pupils will be working towards Level 4 of the National Teaching Plan for Swimming.

Intermediate (Level 5) : Once swimming the strokes confidently and at a good standard over 10 metres, pupils will progress onto our Intermediate level where in a group of six they will begin to be introduced to advance skills such as tumble turns and competitive starts and finishes. The ratio will be 1-to-6 and the pupils will be working towards Stage 5 of the National Teaching Plan for Swimming.

Stroke Technique Masterclass : Once pupils have passed Stage 5 of the National Teaching Plan for Swimming pupils will be invited to a weekly masterclass, where individual problems can be ironed out in preparation for pupils to move on to a club if they so wish. Pupils will be working toward Stage 6 of the National Teaching Plan for Swimming.

Classes : We will be offering our adults a range of classes during the evening time, once lessons have finished for the night. We will run these classes at an approximate ratio of 1-to-8 and will offer a variety of classes depending on the interest. If you are interested in classes such as Aqua Natal, Post Natal, Aqua Aerobics then please contact us.

Adult Lessons : We can offer 1-to-1 lessons or group lessons to adults who wish to either learn to swim or to improve their stroke efficiency. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Other : As the pool is exclusively ours, then we can pretty much cover any requirements you have! If you are very nervous beginner, or an embarrassed adult then you could potentially hire the whole pool!!

Please contact us to discuss any requirements which we haven’t catered for above!
